There’s a new EU legislation coming in that means businesses like yours must be safer than ever with how you look after data. By “data” we mean people’s information – names, contact details and so on.
Whether your business has been hacked or not, as of May next year, you could be fined 4% of your annual turnover if you don’t have the right measures in place. And from recent research, we know this means 90% of businesses are at risk.
We’ll do a review of your business
We think this new legislation is something that could potentially cost our clients millions of pounds. And we think every business should start by doing a review. We’ll have a look at what current measures you have in place, find the potential risks and then manage and maintain the security of your business for there on in.
This could be as simple as where you keep client’s paper files, what access your guests have to Wi-Fi or even how you lock your screen when you leave your desk. We’ll give you the peace of mind of knowing you’re not at risk from cyber security criminals.
Two thirds of businesses were hit by cybercrime last year
Lots of people think it won’t happen to them or their business. But cyber-crime is growing and it isn’t just limited to just giant transnational corporations. Thieves thrive on data, and they can use it to cause harm.
You might have anti-virus protection already, and whilst this helps, there’s more you should be doing. We’ve a team of people who’ll talk you through the basics, and our review will be quick and won’t take up much of your time.
“We have always understood the importance of Cyber Security and all of the data we hold and have tight systems in place to protect our information. However, having heard about the new legislation around data security that’s coming in 2018 we engaged PKF Cooper Parry to fully audit both our IT systems and our IT policies. We wanted to make sure that we have all the right safeguards in place.”
